Black Panther star Letitia Wright has joined the upcoming film Death on the Nile, according to THR. Wright played the role of Princess Shuri in the Marvel Studios film, and will play a main role in the film adaptation of the Agatha Christie classic.
Wright will join Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Armie Hammer (The Social Network), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and Kenneth Branagh (Henry V) in the cast. Branagh will direct Death on the Nile, after his 2018 direction of the earlier Christie adaptation Murder on the Orient Express. He will reprise the role of detective Hercule Poirot.
Wright will reportedly play Rosalie Otterbourne, who is a suspect in the murder in the film. Poirot will try to solve the murder of an heiress who was vacationing in Egypt. Rosalie Otterbourne was previously played by Olivia Hussey in the 1978 film adaptation starring Peter Ustinov and Mia Farrow.
Wright can currently be seen in Donald Glover’s Amazon short Guava Island. She also appeared in Black Mirror. She is also in the cast of the upcoming remake of the French film Le Brio and Hold Back the Stars with John Boyega. As we saw in recent posters from Avengers: Endgame, Wright’s character Shuri didn’t survive Thanos’ destructive snap, which took out half of all living creatures. However, she is listed as a cast member for the film.
