Knives Out, a murder mystery starring Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Logan Lucky), is up for acquisition at the Toronto International Film Festival, according to Deadline. Knives Out will be directed by Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi), who wrote the script and will produce with partner Ram Bergman.
Craig is set to star in the film, which begins shooting in November. As you may have heard, Bond 25 is currently on hold after the departure of director Danny Boyle.
Knives Out is described by the site as “a modern day murder mystery in the classic whodunit style.” The film is reportedly gathering a lot of bidders and will be financed by a new company from Bergman and Johnson.
Johnson, who’s love of Agatha Christie inspired the story in the new film, told the site about getting Craig on board. He said, “I have been a huge fan and always wanted to work with him and as I worked on the script, trying to get it right, Ram and I were wringing our hands over who could be the detective. Then, serendipitously, we heard Daniel might have a small window, and it worked out. He’s an actor of extraordinary range, and we are looking forward to the fun of finding that modern detective, and collaborating with Daniel on creating a new Poirot.”
Johnson is set to begin directing the first of a new Star Wars trilogy after Knives Out.
