Dwayne Johnson revealed today that The Walt Disney Studios has pushed back the Jungle Cruise release date to July 24, 2020. The film was previously set for October 11, 2019. No reason was given for the nine-month delay.
Jaume Collet-Serra (The Commuter, The Shallows) is directing the movie based on the Disney Parks attraction of the same name. Filming wrapped in September, when the production released a video from the set.
In the film, Frank (Johnson), a boat captain, takes his sister and her brother on a mission into a jungle to find a tree believed to possess healing powers. All the while, the trio must fight against dangerous wild animals and a competing German expedition.
Also starring are Emily Blunt, Jack Whitehall, Édgar Ramírez, Jesse Plemons, Paul Giamatti, Quim Gutiérrez, Veronica Falcon, Dani Rovira, and Andy Nyman.
The script was written by Glenn Ficarra, Michael Green and John Requa. The producers are John Davis, John Fox, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia. Douglas C. Merrifield is executive producing.
IT’S OFFICIAL – JULY 24th, 2020.
