-

With Sony Pictures opening Spider-Man: Far From Home next week, it looks like we’ll be getting our first look at the sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The studio has classified the first trailer for the film, which is listed with the title Jumanji: The Next Level.

Jumanji: The Next Level has been set for a December 13, 2019 release.

The returning cast members from Sony Pictures‘ Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle include Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen GillanNick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner.

The newcomers to the cast include Awkwafina, Danny DeVito and Danny Glover. Character details for the new cast members are being kept under wraps.

Jake Kasdan, who directed the 2017 release that grossed $962.1 million worldwide, is back to direct. The sequel’s script is by Kasdan, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Matt Tolmach is producing the feature along with Johnson’s Seven Bucks and Kasdan.

In Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, the game was changed as four teenagers in detention are sucked into the world of Jumanji. When they discover an old video game console with a game they’ve never heard of, they decide to play and are immediately thrust into the game’s jungle setting, in the bodies of the avatar characters they chose (Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan). What they discover is that you don’t just play Jumanji – Jumanji plays you. To win, they’ll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they’ll be stuck in the game forever…
