Jeryl Prescott Joins Swamp Thing as Madame Xanadu

Warner Bros. Television has announced that Jeryl Prescott (The Walking Dead) will be joining DC Universe‘s Swamp Thing as Madame Xanadu, a regular role on the live-action series which will premiere in 2019.

Prescott joins a cast that includes Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, and Jennifer Beals as Sheriff Lucilia Cable.

Xanadu debuted in 1978’s Doorway to Nightmare #1 (written by David Michelinie with art by Val Mayerik), and appeared in numerous other DC Comics titles for several decades before earning her own ongoing solo title in 2008.

In the series, Madame Xanadu is a centuries-old sorceress who finds herself reluctantly drawn into battle against the escalating supernatural forces plaguing a small Louisiana town. A blind fortune teller and magical crusader, Xanadu’s heart is in the right place despite her unorthodox methods in the fight against evil.

In Swamp Thing, when CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland – only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous – and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.

James Wan, Mark Verheiden, Gary Dauberman, Michael Clear and Len Wiseman are executive producers of Swamp Thing, which is based on characters from DC which were created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson. Rob Hackett is co-producer. The series is produced by Atomic Monster in association with Warner Bros. Television. Verheiden & Dauberman are writing the first episode and Len Wiseman is set to direct.
