Jennifer Lawrence has chosen her next project, though it is as-yet-untitled, according to Variety. The film comes to us from IAC FILMS and A24 and will be directed by theater director Lila Neugebauer. This will be Neugebauer’s feature debut. The script for the film comes from first-time screenwriter Elizabeth Sanders. Eli Bush and Scott Rudin will produce with Lawrence and Justine Polsky.
The last time we saw Lawrence was in Red Sparrow in 2018. She’s taken a break from acting for the past year. We’ll see her in the upcoming Dark Phoenix reprising the role of Mystique. Lawrence won an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook and was nominated for Joy, American Hustle and Winter’s Bone. She’s also known for playing the role of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games films, based on the popular YA book series.
Neugebauer is known for her Broadway directing work on the revival of Kenneth Lonergan’s The Waverly Gallery with theater legend Elaine May and Lucas Hedges. The new film’s producers Bush and Rudin produced that play. She’s also known for directing Mary Page Marlowe, At Home at the Zoo/The Zoo Story and a number of others.
Polsky and Lawrence will produce the film through their production company Excellent Cadaver. Principal Photography begins mid-June in New Orleans.
