Jennifer Connelly in Talks to Join Top Gun: Maverick

Jennifer Connelly (upcoming Alita: Battle AngelOnly the BraveA Beautiful Mind) feels the need – the need for speed! The Hollywood Reporter says the actress is in early talks to join Tom Cruise in Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions‘ upcoming Top Gun: Maverick.

Connelly would play the movie’s female lead, a single mother who runs a local bar near the Navy base. Miles Teller (Only the BraveWhiplash) previously landed the role of Goose’s (Anthony Edwards) son in the sequel, which is planned to start shooting in San Diego this September.

Val Kilmer is expected to return as  Tom “Iceman” Kazansky as well.

Tom Cruise is reteaming with his Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski for the film, which will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Cruise, and Skydance’s David Ellison. Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 12, 2019.
