Netflix has debuted the trailer for Dumplin’, which launches in select theaters and on Netflix on December 7, 2018. The cast includes Danielle Macdonald (Bird Box, Skin, Paradise Hills, Patti Cake$), Jennifer Aniston (upcoming Murder Mystery, Horrible Bosses, Marley and Me), Odeya Rush (Lady Bird, Goosebumps), Dove Cameron (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Liv and Maddie, Descendants), Harold Perrineau (Claws, Lost), Bex Taylor-Klaus, and Ginger Minj.
Directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses), the film is based on Julie Murphy’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. Kristin Hahn wrote the adaptation.
Dumplin’ is the plus-size, teenage daughter of a former beauty queen, who signs up for her mom’s pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town.
The producers are Michael Costigan, Mohamed AlRafi, Kristin Hahn, and Trish Hofmann. The executive producers are Jennifer Aniston and Danny Nozell.
The Dumplin’ movie will include newly-recorded collaborations of Dolly Parton’s classic songs in addition to six new original songs co-written by Parton and Grammy nominee Linda Perry. Special guest vocalists include Sia, Miranda Lambert, Mavis Staples, Elle King, Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, Danielle Macdonald, and Jennifer Aniston.
The Dumplin’ Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is now available for pre-order, which will instantly include Dolly Parton’s “Girl In The Movies” and her previously-released collaboration with Sia, “Here I Am.” The soundtrack will release on November 30.
