Indiana Jones 5 Release Date Officially Pushed Back to 2021

The Walt Disney Studios today confirmed previous rumors that Indiana Jones 5 has been pushed back a year. Originally slated for a July 10, 2020 release, the Steven Spielberg-directed film will now open in theaters on July 9, 2021. Before the move, filming was previously scheduled to begin in the UK April 2019.

Spielberg has said that he expects it to be Harrison Ford’s last turn as Indiana Jones, but he also thinks the franchise will continue beyond the fifth installment. Solo: A Star Wars story‘s Jonathan Kasdan is writing the script. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will once again produce.

The studio also announced that Ralph Breaks the Internet is now the official title for the Wreck-It Ralph sequel, which still opens on November 21, 2018 (there’s no more Wreck-It Ralph 2 in the title). Meanwhile, Mary Poppins Returns has moved up a few days from December 25, 2018 to December 19.

Jungle Cruise will now open on October 11, 2019, and Maleficent 2 has been scheduled for May 29, 2020.

As far as some untitled films, a live-action Disney movie has moved from July 9, 2021 to July 30, 2021, and an untiled Marvel Studios movie from July 30, 2021 to February 12, 2021.
