Hudgens, Ludwig, and Melton Board Bad Boys for Life

Vanessa Hudgens (Second Act, The Princess Switch), Alexander Ludwig (Vikings, The Hunger Games), and Charles Melton (Riverdale) are joining Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, and Joe Pantoliano in Bad Boys for Life, according to Variety.

According to the trade, Hudgens, Ludwig, and Melton play “a modern, highly specialized police unit that collides with the old school Bad Boys (Smith and Lawrence) when a new threat emerges in Miami.” It adds that the villain role hasn’t been cast yet.

Filming is scheduled to begin in January. Sony Pictures will distribute the action comedy, which currently is scheduled for a January 17, 2020 release date.

Bad Boys hit theaters in April 1995 and grossed $141.4 million worldwide, while Bad Boys II reached $273 million globally in 2003. Both those films were directed by Michael Bay, but the third installment has Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah at the helm.

Jerry Bruckheimer is back again to produce the film with Doug Belgrad and Smith. Barry Waldman, Mike Stenson, Chad Oman, and James Lassiter are the executive producers.
