In this reimagining of 1999’s She’s All That, Padgett (Addison Rae) has mastered her perfect high school life: She’s a popular beauty influencer with a huge following, and her hot pop star boyfriend makes her the envy of everyone on her feed.
But after she catches him cheating while livestreaming, she goes viral for all the wrong reasons. To repair her reputation, Padgett makes a risky bet that she can turn her scruffy antisocial classmate Cameron (Cobra Kai’s Tanner Buchanan) into prom king material.
Things get complicated when she finds herself falling for him IRL – and learning no one is quite who they seem on social media, least of all herself.
Directed by Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Freaky Friday), He’s All That was written by R. Lee Fleming Jr. (She’s All That). The producers include Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay, with Bill Block producing for Miramax.
Kerry Washington (The Prom, American Son, Little Fires Everywhere) will star in and produce the feature film adaptation of Cardwell’s memoir Rockaway at Netflix. Washington also stars in the upcoming Netflix film The School for Good and Evil.
The producers include Liza Chasin, who has a multi-year first-look deal with Netflix, for 3dot Productions; Kerry Washington and Pilar Savone for Simpson Street; and Todd Shuster for Aevitas Entertainment.
NAACP Image Award winner Nichelle Tramble Spellman (Truth Be Told) will adapt the screenplay based on the memoir by Diane Cardwell, who will executive produce with Margaret Chernin.
On a routine assignment, a Manhattan journalist unexpectedly discovers the transcendent power of surfing, and finds herself running from the comfortable life she’s always known towards a life of romance and self-discovery in eclectic Rockaway Beach.
Published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Rockaway was named by Outside Magazine as one of the Best Adventure Travel Books of the Year.
