Paramount Network today revealed the Heathers trailer, which features an intro from original star Shannen Doherty, who will guest star in the series. Heathers is premiering as a five-night binge event starting Thursday, October 25th, airing two episodes a night.
The Heathers reboot was previously shelved. The series will now be shown without the 10th and final episode. The last two episodes have been recut, with the ninth episode serving as the ending.
“I am beyond excited that American audiences will finally get to see ‘Heathers,’” series creator and showrunner Jason Micallef said. “Obviously I wish fans could see the tenth episode but the producers and I felt strongly about not changing anything in it, and so, it’s been considered too controversial for U.S. audiences. Still, every day at this job is a delightful dream so it’s hard to complain. Plus, what matters most is fans will now get to see the satire we all love so much.”
Based on the 1988 cult classic film of the same name, Heathers is an hour-long pitch-black comedy anthology set in the present day, as heroine Veronica Sawyer (Grace Victoria Cox, Under the Dome) deals with a very different but equally vicious group of ‘Heathers.’
Also starring are James Scully as JD, Melanie Field (Wicked National Tour) as Heather Chandler, Brendan Scannell (Funny or Die) as Heather Duke, and Jasmine Mathews as Heather McNamara.
The original 1988 black comedy was written by Daniel Waters and directed by Michael Lehmann. It also stars Winona Ryder and Christian Slater.
