Hailee Steinfeld Eyed for Hawkeye Series Coming to Disney+

Hailee Steinfeld could soon be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Variety is reporting that the Bumblebee actress has been offered the lead role in the Hawkeye series coming to Disney+.

Jeremy Renner will reprise his role of Clint Barton, who is expected to pass the bow to the Marvel Comics character Kate Bishop. Hailee Steinfeld would play Bishop in the series, which is scheduled to launch on the streaming service in the fall of 2021. Bishop was a member of the Young Avengers in the comics.

If she takes on the role, it would mark her second series for a streaming service, as she already plays the lead in Apple TV+ half-hour comedy show Dickinson, in which she plays the 19th century poet Emily Dickinson.

Steinfeld’s feature credits also include Ender’s Game, Romeo & Juliet, Begin AgainTrue GritThe Edge of Seventeen, the Pitch Perfect films, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. She also broke through in music after performing “Flashlight” in Pitch Perfect 2 and has released singles and the EP Haiz.

In addition to Hawkeye, the Marvel Studios Phase Four series also include The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (Fall 2020), WandaVision (Spring 2021), Loki (Spring 2021), and What If…? (Summer 2021). At D23 Expo, Kevin Feige announced that Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and She-Hulk are in development as well.
