Gotham has gotten a premiere date for its final season from FOX. The show will return to the network next year, and we’ll get a chance to see the villain Bane. According to TheWrap, the final season premiere for Gotham will take place on Thursday, January 3. This will be the fifth season of the Batman-prequel series. Shane West (Nikita) will play the role of Bane. Bane will be introduced as Eduardo Dorrance, a former Army friend of Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie), who is gradually transformed into the villain.
With Gotham on the brink of total anarchy and cut off from the outside world, only Jim Gordon, Bruce Wayne and a handful of heroes remain behind to retake the city. Inspired by the “No Man’s Land” arc from the comics, villains including Penguin, the Riddler, the Sirens and Jeremiah have taken claim on various regions of the city. Will order be restored, or will chaos reign in Gotham?
In addition to Gotham, we also have the premiere dates for some other shows. The comedy The Orville from Seth MacFarlane is set to premiere on December 30 right after football. Cosmos, also from MacFarlane and starring Neil deGrasse Tyson will premiere on Sunday, March 3. This season will be called Cosmos: Possible Worlds. We’ll see the reality series Gordon Ramsey’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back on January 2 and the Kelsey Grammer legal drama Proven Innocent on February 15. They’ll join the previously-announced premieres of The Passage on January 14, the reality show The Masked Singer on January 2 and the live version of the Broadway musical Rent on January 27.
