The movie is based on the 1984 film Ghostbusters, an Ivan Reitman film written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.

In case you missed it, Sony previously revealed a Ghostbusters: Afterlife clip which features Paul Rudd encountering Mini-Pufts.

Mini-Pufts are not something new to the Ghostbusters franchise, as they made an appearance in the one-shot comic book Ghostbusters: Deviations from IDW Publishing.

Set in an alternate timeline in which the Ghostbusters did not cross streams, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man has taken over New York City 31 days later. In that story, the Mini-Pufts excreted by the Marshmallow Man are a problem for the Ghostbusters.
