Ghostbusters 2020 filming has begun! Director Jason Reitman has revealed the first photos from the set on his social channels and you can view them below.
Scheduled for a July 10, 2020 release, the Sony Pictures film stars Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel), Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, It Chapter Two), and Carrie Coon (Widows, The Sinner) as a family. Grace has been described as the ostensible lead, with Wolfhard playing her brother and Coon her single mother.
Ant-Man and Avengers star Paul Rudd recently revealed that he has joined the cast in an undisclosed role as well. Sigourney Weaver has said that she, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd will be back, and Reitman hinted that Ernie Hudson will also return.
Reitman has mentioned that taking on the project was a very intimidating thing, considering his father, Ivan (also pictured), directed the first two films. “My father’s the greatest storyteller I know. He’s directed movies that defined my childhood. We wanted to make a love letter to the original movie.” Reitman co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan.
The sequel to the Ghostbusters movies made in the 1980s will center on four teens, one set older, one set younger, with a focus on one family in particular. The new Ghostbusters movie is set in the world of the original two films.
