Gerard Butler will star in the international action thriller Remote Control for Hyde Park Entertainment Group, EON Productions and G-BASE. STXfilms has secured worldwide rights for the film and will introduce the film to buyers at EFM this week, it was jointly announced today by Ashok Amritraj, Chairman and CEO of Hyde Park Entertainment Group, and Adam Fogelson, Chairman of the STXfilms, Motion Picture Group.
Remote Control follows Michael Rafter (Gerard Butler), a former war correspondent turned corporate security consultant, whose life is overturned when he receives a mysterious phone call from an unknown source. Intrigued by the caller’s intent, Rafter investigates and soon uncovers the threads of a global conspiracy, finding himself drawn into a fight for his life and pursued by the 212, a powerful shadow organization.
Rafter soon discovers he has been targeted and framed as the notorious international assassin, Julian Irving. With his own identity erased, Rafter turns to the only person he can trust – his former lover, Tracy, who is also implicated in the conspiracy.
Now on the run together, they must stay ahead of the 212, the CIA and a team of professional assassins, and unravel the mystery while trying to stay alive.
Ashok Amritraj will produce through Hyde Park Entertainment Group alongside Butler and Alan Siegel through their G-BASE Entertainment banner. Executive producers are Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for EON Productions, Priya Amritraj and Addison Mehr for Hyde Park, and Danielle Robinson for G-BASE.

Butler is best known for his dynamic portrayal of Secret Service Mike Banning in the three-film Fallen franchise, which grossed over $522 million worldwide. He also headlined the visionary blockbuster film 300, which grossed over $456 million. Butler also starred in the hit Den of Thieves and has also lent his voice to the wildly popular How to Train Your Dragon films, which have grossed over $1.5 billion combined.
Two-time Academy Award-nominated director of photography John Mathieson has amassed a resume of critical and commercial successes, including Gladiator, which grossed $461 million worldwide, Logan which grossed $619 million, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E., among others.
