Frozen 2 Box Office Reaches $99.6 Million Worldwide

The Frozen 2 box office is already up to $99.6 million through Friday, The Walt Disney Studios is reporting. The sequel earned an impressive $41.8 million in North America on opening day and has grossed $57.8 million from international markets. The film received a strong A- CinemaScore from domestic audiences.

Continuing to open No. 1 in all markets, it’s now the No. 1 Disney Animation/Pixar opening day in China and Poland, the No. 1 Disney Animation opening day in UK, the No. 2 western animated opening day in Japan behind only Toy Story 4, and the No. 2 Disney Animation/Pixar opening day ever in Spain, India, and Vietnam, while in Mexico it opened 152% ahead of the original Frozen.

Early estimates from day 2 in China point to $24 million, which would bring the estimated total there to $35 million for the first two days.

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In Frozen, Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In Frozen 2, she must hope they are enough.

The sequel comes from the Academy Award-winning team — directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, and producer Peter Del Vecho — and features the voices of Idina MenzelKristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad, and the music of Oscar-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
