As part of [email protected], Antlers director Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Hostiles) and producer Guilermo del Toro (The Shape of Water) revealed a new featurette that talks about the wendigo myth. Searchlight Pictures has scheduled the thriller to open in theaters on February 19, 2021. It is rated R for violence including gruesome images, and for language.
In Antlers, a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.
In addition to Keri Russell and Jesse Plemons, the film also stars JT Corbitt, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane, and Amy Madigan.
The screenplay was written by C. Henry Chaisson & Nick Antosca and Scott Cooper, based upon the short story The Quiet Boy by Nick Antosca. You can read Nick Antosca’s short story by clicking here. The producers are Guillermo del Toro, David Goyer, and J. Miles Dale.
Principal photography for the film began on October 1, 2018, and wrapped on November 30, 2018, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Scott Cooper is known for writing and directing Crazy Heart (2009), Out of the Furnace (2013), Black Mass (2015) and Hostiles (2017). Nick Antosca is an American novelist, screenwriter and producer. His novels include Fires (2006), Midnight Picnic (2009), and The Girlfriend Game (2013).
He is also the creator and showrunner of the horror anthology television series Channel Zero, and he co-created and showran the Hulu crime anthology series, The Act.
