Dragons Rescue Riders: Secrets of the Songwing Special Coming

Tony and Grammy Award winner Renée Elise Goldberry (​Hamilton, Fast and Furious: Spy Racers​) is joining the Rescue Riders as Melodia, in a sing-along special titled DreamWorks Dragons Rescue Riders: Secrets of the Songwing.

The 45-minute special will premiere on Netflix July 24, 2020.

When a majestic songwing uses her harmonious voice to hypnotize dragons and humans, the Rescue Riders must use the magic of song to save their friends from the harmonic hypnosis.

Alongside Goldberry, the young dragons are voiced by Marsai Martin (Little, black-ish) as Aggro, Zach Callison (Steven Universe, The Goldbergs, Just Add Magic) as Winger, Skai Jackson (Jessie, BUNK’D, Bubble Guppies, The Smurfs) as Summer.

Also on board are Noah Bentley (Adam Ruins Everything, Reel Kids, Afternoon Delight) as Burple, Andre Robinson (Hotel Transylvania 2, Doc McStuffins) as Cutter, and Cassidy Naber (​Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures, American Horror Story​) as Zeppla.

The musical special is executive produced by Emmy Award winner Jack Thomas (Regular Show, DreamWorks Dragons: Race to the Edge) and co-executive produced by Brian Roberts (DreamWorks VeggieTales).

DreamWorks Dragons Rescue Riders: Secrets of the Songwing features the voice talents of Nicolas Cantu (The Amazing World of Gumball, Sofia the First, LEGO Star Wars) as Dak, Brennley Brown (Semifinalist on The Voice, Sofia the First, Tangled: The Series) as Leyla.

Carlos Alazraqui (Happy Feet, Inside Out, Batman: Arkham City) also stars as Guggard, Moira Quirk (Skyrim, The Wild Thornberrys, Castlevania) as Hannahr, Roshon Fegan (Shake It Up, Camp Rock, Greenleaf) as Elbone, and Brad Grusnick (Bunnicula, Bioshock Infinite) as Magnus Finke.

The additional cast members includes John C. MicGinley (Scrubs, Stan Against Evil) as Grumblegard and Tara Strong (The Fairly OddParents, My Little Pony) as Vizza.

DreamWorks Animation is home to such beloved series as Spirit Riding Free, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Archibald’s Next Big Thing, Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, The Boss Baby: Back in Business, and Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny.

The company has also brought us The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants, Dragons: Race to the Edge, All Hail King Julien, and the recently-released Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.

Will Goldsberry lend her voice as Melodia again in the series? Like in Season 3 of Rescue Riders or anytime after that?
