Downton Abbey: A New Era Photos and Trailer Tease

Focus Features and Carnival Films today debuted the first Downton Abbey: A New Era photos and revealed that the teaser trailer will play in theaters with Belfast this weekend.

Downton Abbey: A New Era Photos and Trailer Tease

Downton Abbey: A New Era will be released in the United States on Friday, March 18, 2022. Universal Pictures International will release internationally on the same date.

The original principal cast have returned for the second film along with new additions Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West.

The screenplay is written by Downton creator and Academy-Award winner Julian Fellowes, with Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning Gareth Neame and Emmy Award-winning Liz Trubridge producing with Fellowes. BAFTA and Emmy nominated Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) is directing.

The initial film followed a Royal Visit to the Crawley family and Downton staff from the King and Queen of England and ended with a ball fitting for the Royal Family.

Downton Abbey: A New Era Release Set for March 2022

Downton Abbey: A New Era is a Carnival Films production, with Focus Features and Universal Pictures International distributing. Carnival Films is part of NBCUniversal International Studios, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Following the series, the first movie (buy at Amazon) was released in September 2019 and grossed $237.9 million worldwide, with $96.9 million coming from North American theaters and $96.9 million from international markets. The movie cost just $13 million to make.

New Era

Focus is part of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG), which produces, acquires, markets and distributes filmed entertainment worldwide in various media formats for theatrical, home entertainment, television and other distribution platforms.

Having received more than 200 international awards and honours including Primetime Emmys, Golden Globes and BAFTAs, Carnival has produced landmark series including Poirot, Hotel Babylon, Whitechapel and Dracula.
