Fox Searchlight Pictures has released the Downhill trailer, which gives you a first look at the comedy opening in theaters on February 14, 2020. The film is an adaptation of the 2014 Golden Globe nominated Swedish film Force Majeure.
Downhill is written by Jesse Armstrong (In the Loop, Four Lions) and directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (The Way, Way Back), and stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Enough Said), Will Ferrell (Daddy’s Home Two), Miranda Otto (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Zach Woods (Silicon Valley), Zoë Chao (Strangers), Julian Grey (Godless), Ammon Jacob Ford (Seal Team) and Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones).
The film’s producers are Louis-Dreyfus, Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman and Stefanie Azpiazu (Private Life, Enough Said), with Ruben Östlund (Force Majeure) and Erik Hemmendorff (The Square) serving as executive producers.
In Downhill, barely escaping an avalanche during a ski vacation in the Alps throws a seemingly picture-perfect family into disarray as they are forced to reevaluate life, and how they truly feel about each other.
Producer Anthony Bregman previously said: “Downhill is a tale of bad judgement and moral weakness, so how fitting that Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell embody those values. Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, of course, are more than qualified to capture the fallout.”
