Roku has given the green light to Die Hart Season 3 following the success of the launch of Die Hart 2: Die Harter. The service says that Die Hart 2: Die Harter broke viewership records during its opening weekend on The Roku Channel, becoming the #1 Roku Original TV series weekend premiere of all time by both unique views and streaming hour engagement.
In addition to cementing itself as the most watched Roku Original TV series weekend premiere ever, Die Hart 2: Die Harter nearly doubled the opening weekend audience of the series’ first season, Die Hart, which first launched on The Roku Channel in May 2021.
Roku will once again partner with Hartbeat, the global, multiplatform media company creating entertainment where comedy meets culture, to create Die Hart Season 3.
Kevin Hart will return for the third installment with more casting and additional details to be shared at a later date.
In Die Hart 2: Die Harter, Kevin now wants to cement his legacy as the greatest action star of all time, after achieving his dream of becoming a bona fide action hero in “Die Hart.” He’s developed a concept for a revolutionary movie where the action is so unscripted and unexpected that even Kevin won’t know what’s coming next.
But Kevin’s myopic dream comes with a blind spot, and he soon finds himself the victim of an evil revenge plot, orchestrated by someone from his past.
Kevin must enlist the help of his favorite co-star, Jordan King (Nathalie Emmanuel), his over-eager assistant, Andre (Ben Schwartz), Andre’s mom, Cynthia (Paula Pell), and legendary Hollywood stuntman Mr. 206 (John Cena) if he wants to survive.
Kevin Hart, Jeff Clanagan, Candice Wilson Cherry, Bryan Smiley, Thai Randolph, Mike Stein, Luke Kelly-Clyne, Kevin Healey, Ty Walker, Tripper Clancy, and Eric Appel served as executive producers of Die Hart 2: Die Harter.
“With the creative prowess of the Hartbeat team, the incredible performances of an all-star cast, and the power of the Roku platform, Die Hart 2: Die Harter not only set premiere viewership records for a Roku Originals TV series, but also brought in nearly double the audience of the first season,” said Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Originals, Roku Media.
“We are thrilled to once again partner with Kevin Hart and Hartbeat on a third season, as we build this comedic franchise on The Roku Channel.”
“Die Hart is one of my favorite projects to act in and produce. I am so excited to get back to set to shoot season three,” said star and executive producer Kevin Hart.
“My fans are the best and their reaction to season two fuels Hartbeat to keep raising the bar on this show. Watch out for what comes next, we are going bigger and better!!”
“Die Hart has become a powerhouse franchise for Hartbeat and an incredible crowd pleaser that continues to unite audiences around the world through laughter,” added Bryan Smiley, Hartbeat’s President & Chief Content Officer and executive producer.
“We are beyond thrilled to see it breaking records on its premiere weekend and look forward to partnering with Roku again for a third season.”
