Netflix has formed a multi-year partnership with creator Liz Feldman (2 Broke Girls, One Big Happy) for original series and other projects. Under this new partnership, the streaming service has given the green light to Dead to Me Season 3, which will also mark the final season.
Dead to Me stars Christina Applegate, Linda Cardellini and James Marsden. The executive producers include Feldman, Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell for Gloria Sanchez Prods., Christie Smith, Applegate and Adam McKay. Cardellini serves as Co-Executive Producer. Dead to Me is produced by CBS Television Studios for Netflix.
“From start to finish, Dead To Me is exactly the show I wanted to make. And it’s been an incredible gift. Telling a story sprung from grief and loss has stretched me as an artist and healed me as a human,” said Feldman.
“I’ll be forever indebted to my partners in crime, my friends for life, Christina and Linda, and our brilliantly talented writers, cast and crew. I am beyond grateful to Netflix for supporting Dead To Me from day one, and I’m thrilled to continue our collaboration.”
“Liz Feldman is a comedic force who brings her fresh and distinct point of view to every element of the creative process from inception through writing and producing,” added Netflix’s Jane Wiseman, Vice President, Comedy Series.
“We could not be more excited to expand our relationship with Liz and continue to work with her on Dead to Me and future series to come.”
Consisting of 10 episodes, the second season of Dead to Me launched on the streaming service on May 8, 2020. The dark comedy is about a dynamic female friendship that dives into the painfully unfiltered, weirdly funny waters of grief, loss and forgiveness.
In the first season, Jen (Christina Applegate) is a sardonic widow determined to solve her husband’s recent hit-and-run murder. Judy (Linda Cardellini) is an optimistic free spirit who’s recently suffered her own tragic loss.
When the two women meet at a support group, they become unlikely friends despite their polar-opposite personalities. But as they bond over bottles of wine, Entenmann’s cookies and a shared affinity for The Facts of Life, Judy desperately tries to shield Jen from a shocking secret that could destroy her life as she knows it.
In Season 2, Jen, Judy and the lies that entwine them are back. Picking up in the aftermath of that bloody backyard reveal, the irrepressible pair once again struggle to keep their secrets buried.
With a surprising new visitor in town and Detective Perez (Diana Maria Riva) hot on their heels, Jen and Judy take drastic measures to protect their loved ones and each other — no matter the cost.
