David Dastmalchian is Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad

David Dastmalchian (The Flash, MacGyver, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Ant-Man) is headed for the DC Universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will play the villain Polka-Dot Man in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The Polka-Dot Man debuted in 1962’s Detective Comics No. 300. In the comics, Polka-Dot Man was able to transform the spots on his costume into weapons.

He’ll join returning cast members Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). The other newcomers are Idris Elba and possibly John Cena.

The trade adds that other villains in the new movie are likely to include Ratcatcher, Peacemaker, and King Shark.

James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy films) will write and direct The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. Pictures. The film has been scheduled for an August 6, 2021 release. Warner Bros. Pictures is hoping to start production this fall. Charles Roven and Peter Safran will produce the feature. Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder will serve as executive producers.

Directed by David Ayer, the first Suicide Squad also stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Cara Delevingne, Karen Fukuhara, Jay Hernandez, Joel Kinnaman, and Jared Leto. Suicide Squad cost about $175 million and grossed an impressive $746.8 million worldwide.
