Constance Wu will to star in Universal Pictures‘ film version of the Rachel Khong debut novel Goodbye, Vitamin, according to Deadline. Universal has optioned the rights and Wu is reportedly attached to the project. Dylan Clark will produce. Jennifer Yee is set to adapt the novel. Wu will executive produce the film.
Here is the book description for Goodbye, Vitamin from Amazon: “Freshly disengaged from her fiancé and feeling that life has not turned out quite the way she planned, 30-year-old Ruth quits her job, leaves town, and arrives at her parents’ home to find that situation more complicated than she’d realized. Her father, a prominent history professor, is losing his memory and is only erratically lucid. Ruth’s mother, meanwhile, is lucidly erratic. But as Ruth’s father’s condition intensifies, the comedy in her situation takes hold, gently transforming all her grief.”
Wu is known for her work in Crazy Rich Asians and Fresh Off the Boat. She’ll next be seen with Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers.
