Cate Blanchett is Phyllis Schlafly in the Mrs. America Trailer

FX Networks has released the Mrs. America trailer, which previews the new series premiering April 15 on FX on Hulu. Let us know what you think about the Mrs. America trailer in the comments below.

Mrs. America tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the unexpected backlash led by a conservative woman named Phyllis Schlafly, played by Cate Blanchett. Through the eyes of the women of that era – both Schlafly and second wave feminists Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug and Jill Ruckelshaus – the series explores how one of the toughest battlegrounds in the culture wars of the ’70s helped give rise to the Moral Majority and forever shifted our political landscape.

The series also stars Rose Byrne as Gloria Steinem; Sarah Paulson as “Alice,” Margo Martindale as Bella Abzug, Uzo Aduba as Shirley Chisholm, Elizabeth Banks as Jill Ruckelshaus, Tracey Ullman as Betty Friedan, John Slattery as Fred Schlafly, and James Marsden as Phil Crane.

Mrs. America is written by Emmy Award-winning writer Dahvi Waller (Mad Men) and executive produced by two-time Academy Award nominee Stacey Sher, Waller, Coco Francini, Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, and Blanchett, with Micah Schraft and James Skotchdopole serving as Co-Executive Producers. The limited series is produced by FX Productions. Boden & Fleck, who most recently co-wrote and directed the blockbuster feature Captain Marvel, directed the first two episodes of Mrs. America.

Mrs. America marks the first series regular role in an American television program for Blanchett, a two-time Academy Award and Golden Globe Award winner.

I would highly recommend Phyllis Shafly's book The Flipside of Feminisn. Do your own research on this movement

This series is, of course, going out of it's way to make Phyllis Shafly appear to be something and someone she was not. I am horrified and disgusted by the way she is being portrayed. Totally unacceptable!
