Bloodshot Release Date Pushed Back and New Game Announced

-

Sony Pictures has pushed back the Bloodshot release date from February 21, 2020 to March 13. That’s the same date as wide releases I Still Believe (Lionsgate) and My Spy (STXfilms). Starring Vin Diesel, Bloodshot is based on the Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated Valiant Comics title.

In related news, a Bloodshot video game (as well as a game based on Ninjak) is in the works from Valiant Entertainment and Blowfish Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re thrilled to bring Valiant’s characters back into the video game industry and give fans the opportunity to play as their favorite superheroes,” said Dan Mintz, founder and CEO of Valiant’s parent company, DMG Entertainment. “Translating these characters and stories to video games could not come at a more exciting time as we introduce the world to the Valiant Universe on the big screen with the Bloodshot release. These games are poised to become further proof of these characters’ immense potential as anchors in pop culture.”

Bloodshot is directed by Dave S. F. Wilson and stars Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious films), Guy Pearce (The Hurt Locker), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Sam Heughan (Outlander), Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Toby Kebbell (Kong: Skull Island), and Talulah Riley (Westworld). The screenplay was written by Eric Heisserer (Arrival) and Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2).

Vin Diesel stars as Ray Garrison, a soldier recently killed in action and brought back to life as the superhero Bloodshot by the RST corporation. With an army of nanotechnology in his veins, he’s an unstoppable force – stronger than ever and able to heal instantly. But in controlling his body, the company has sway over his mind and memories, too. Now, Ray doesn’t know what’s real and what’s not – but he’s on a mission to find out.

The character was created in 1992 for Valiant Comics by Kevin VanHook, Bob Layton and Don Perlin.

The producers are Neal H. Moritz, Toby Jaffe, Dinesh Shamdasani and Vin Diesel. The executive producers include Dan Mintz, Louis G. Friedman, Yu Dong, Jeffrey Chan, Rita LeBlanc, Buddy Patrick, and Matthew Vaughn.
