Ben Affleck Joins Anne Hathaway in The Last Thing He Wanted

Netflix has rounded out the cast for Dee Rees’ Mudbound follow-up, The Last Thing He Wanted. The 2019 release is currently shooting in Puerto Rico.

The cast includes Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables, Ocean’s 8), Emmy Award nominee Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Infamous, Journey’s End), Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez (Bounty Hunters, Fearless, White Men Can’t Jump), double Academy Award winner Ben Affleck (Argo, Good Will Hunting, Gone Girl), Drama Desk and Obie Award winner Edi Gathegi (Jesus Hopped the A Train), with Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe (The Florida Project) and Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth, Overboard, Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams)

The story is based on the 1996 novel by Joan Didion and centers on hardscrabble journalist Elena McMahon who finds herself on dangerous ground as the Iran Contra Affair’s arms for drugs plot reaches its tipping point.

Dee Rees is directing from a script she wrote with Marco Villalobos. The movie is based on Joan Didion’s book of the same title. The producers are Cassian Elwes and Dee Rees, and executive producers are Jamin O’Brien, Wayne Godfrey, Robert Jones, Mark Lane and James Harris.
