Disney’s 20th Century Studios is taking you behind the scenes of Avatar: The Way of Water today in a new video you can watch below! The video shows how the cast and crew filmed the movie in The Volume (the space where motion capture takes place).

In addition to going behind the scenes of Avatar: The Way of Water, we now know just how well the movie is performing worldwide. The James Cameron film has already grossed $168.6 million in North America and $387.3 million internationally, for a global total of $555.9 million.

The top-grossing overseas markets include China ($66.5M), France ($32.3M), Korea ($29.8M), India ($24.4M), Germany ($23.5M), and United Kingdom ($18.9M).

There’s also Mexico ($17.6M), Australia ($14.3M), Italy ($12.7M), Brazil ($11.4M), Spain ($9.7M), and Indonesia ($6.5M).

The Avatar: The Way of Water performance this weekend pushed The Walt Disney Studios over the $4 billion mark for 2022.

The studio’s key releases for the year also included Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ($955M), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ($789M: still in release), and Thor: Love and Thunder ($761M).

With Avatar: The Way of Water, the cinematic experience reaches new heights as Cameron transports audiences back to the magnificent world of Pandora in a spectacular and stirring action-packed adventure.

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the Lightstorm Entertainment Production stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Kate Winslet.

The screenplay is by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. The screenplay is based on a story by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno. David Valdes and Richard Baneham serve as the film’s executive producers.

Following Avatar: The Way of Water, the third installment, Avatar: The Seed Bearer (Working Title), will be released by 20th Century Studios on December 20, 2024.

Then Avatar: The Tulkun Rider (Working Title) and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa (Working Title) are coming to theaters on December 18, 2026 and December 22, 2028, respectively.
