Bad Boys Sequel to Reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence

Today, on social media, Will Smith (see post here) and Martin Lawrence (see post here) announced that they are reuniting for a fourth film in the Bad Boys franchise.

Sony Pictures confirmed the untitled Bad Boys sequel is in early pre-production at the studio with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah returning to direct from a script by Chris Bremner.

Jerry Bruckheimer, Will Smith for Westbrook, Doug Belgrad, and Chad Oman are back to produce.

Martin Lawrence, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman and Jon Mone will serve as executive producers.

Bad Boys Sequel to Reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah most recently directed and co-wrote the feature film Rebel, an immensely powerful and nuanced portrayal of a family torn apart over a little Muslim boy’s future, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

In television, the duo served as executive producers and directors for the pilot and finale of the critically-acclaimed Marvel series Ms. Marvel, which remains the highest rated Marvel project (for both films and series) on Rotten Tomatoes thus far.

The filmmakers previously directed Bad Boys for Life for Sony Pictures, which reunited Will Smith and Martin Lawrence 25 years after the first iconic Bad Boys film was released.

Bad Boys for Life grossed $426.5 million worldwide, with $206.3 million coming from domestic theaters and $220.2 million from international markets.

Bad Boys for Life was directed by Adil and Bilall from a script by Chris Bremner, Peter Craig and Joe Carnahan. The film also starred Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez, Kate Del Castillo, Nicky Jam, and Joe Pantoliano.

Bad Boys for Life was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Will Smith, and Doug Belgrad. The executive producers were Chad Oman, Barry Waldman, Mike Stenson, and James Lassiter.
