The Avengers: Endgame trailer (watch here) has smashed the previous record for most views its first 24 hours with 289 million views! The Endgame trailer surpassed the previous record of 230 million set by Avengers: Infinity War. That was followed by the recent The Lion King trailer, which got 224.6 million views.
“To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning until the endgame and making this the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours!” Marvel Studios tweeted today.
The Endgame trailer views were added up multiple platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
“That is a staggering amount of views. It shows just how high the anticipation was for this trailer and is for this film. Audiences are clearly desperate to see what happens next after Thanos wiped out half the universe,” Marvel Studios said.
Opening in theaters on April 26, 2019, Avengers: Endgame will follow Avengers: Infinity War, which was the No. 1 film of 2018 on a global basis with $2.046 billion earned. The third installment brought in $678.8 million domestically (a figure topped by Black Panther‘s $700 million) and $1.368 billion overseas.
Avengers: Endgame is the second Hollywood film shot entirely with IMAX cameras. The first was, appropriately, Avengers: Infinity War. Audiences that experience Avengers: Endgame will see up to 26% more picture in IMAX vs. standard theaters. The Russo Brothers shot the film with IMAX cameras and with IMAX aspect ratio so the pristine images will fill the entire screen – from the moment the film starts until the last credit leaves the screen.
