Atypical Season 4 Release Date and First Photos

Netflix has announced the premiere date for Atypical Season 4 and provided us with the first photos from the show’s final season.

The fourth and final season of the Peabody Award-nominated family comedy series premieres on Friday, July 9, 2021.

Atypical tells the story of Sam Gardner (Keir Gilchrist), a young man on the autism spectrum looking for love and independence.

In Atypical Season 4, each character faces a challenge they never anticipated and Sam sets his sights on a nearly impossible goal.

Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as his mother, Elsa, Michael Rapaport plays his father, Doug, and Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Sam’s sister, Casey.

Also starring are Amy Okuda, Jenna Boyd, Graham Rogers, Fivel Stewart, Nik Dodani, Tal Anderson, Domonique Brown, Naomi Rubin, Kimia Behpoornia, and Sara Gilbert.

The third season of the popular series launched on Netflix on November 1, 2019. The critically-acclaimed original series is created, written and executive produced by Robia Rashid (How I Met Your Mother, Will & Grace).

In season three, Sam starts his first year of college and is faced with the challenge of figuring out what success means for him, while adjusting to the changes that come with growing up.

Academy Award-winning producer Seth Gordon and Mary Rohlich, who have both worked on hit series and films, including Baywatch, The Goldbergs and Horrible Bosses, also executive produce alongside Rashid. Jennifer Jason Leigh also serves as a producer.

Michelle Dean, who received her PhD from UCLA and worked at the UCLA Center for Autism and Research and Treatment before joining the faculty of CSU Channel Island, was also brought into the production to help guide an accurate depiction of autism spectrum disorder.

The 10, half-hour episodes of the fourth season were filmed in Los Angeles, California. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television in association with Exhibit A and Weird Brain Inc.
