Antonio Banderas and More Join the Uncharted Movie


Antonio Banderas, who recently received an Oscar nomination for Pain and Glory, is joining Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in Sony Pictures’ Uncharted movie, according to Variety.

The trade says that Sophia Ali and The 100 actor Tati Gabrielle have also joined the film, which will be directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom) will direct the movie. Fleischer’s credits also include the Zombieland movies, 30 Minutes or Less and Gangster Squad.

Tom Holland will play Nathan “Nate” Drake in Uncharted and Mark Wahlberg is set to play Victor “Sully” Sullivan. Sully is an American treasure hunter as well as an old friend and mentor at one point of Drake.

Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man and Men in Black: International) and Rafe Judkins wrote the script. The Uncharted is scheduled for a March 5, 2021 release.

The project will become the first feature production of Sony PlayStation Productions. Headed by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, PlayStation Productions has come on to produce alongside Chuck Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad. Qizilbash and Swan will serve as executive producers.

Based on the Naughty Dog video games for PlayStation consoles, the film is said to take its basis from the sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in which the young Nathan “Nate” Drake (Holland) encounters his partner Victor Sullivan for the first time.

It is unknown who Antonio Banderas, Sophia Ali and Tati Gabrielle will be playing in the film.

Banderas is a Spanish actor, film producer and director. His credits include Philadelphia (1993), Interview with the Vampire (1994), Desperado (1995), Assassins (1995), Evita (1996), and The Mask of Zorro (1998). He also appeared in the Spy Kids movies and provided the voice of Puss in Boots in the Shrek franchise as well as its spin-off film Puss in Boots.

The actor also recently played Pablo Picasso in the second season of Genius. He can next be seen in The Hitman’s Bodyguard 2 opposite Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek.

Ali’s credits include Truth or Dare and Everyone Wants Some!!, while Gabrielle can currently be seen in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
