Netflix has provided Vital Thrills with the official trailer and key art for Anatomy of a Scandal, a psychological thriller based on the international bestselling novel (check price at Amazon) of the same name by Sarah Vaughan. The series premieres on April 15.
A psychological thriller and gripping courtroom drama, the series infiltrates Britain’s elite through personal and political scandals, where the truth lies between justice and privilege.
James and Sophie Whitehouse live in a blissful and rarified world. A Minister in Parliament and a loving family at home, James’ trajectory appears without limits.
Until a scandalous secret suddenly comes to light. Barrister Kate Woodcroft has a trajectory of her own, and her prosecution threatens to tear into Westminster, the Whitehouse marriage, and her own personal esteem.
Consisting of six one-hour episodes, Anatomy of a Scandal stars Sienna Miller (American Sniper, The Loudest Voice), Michelle Dockery (The Gentleman, Downton Abbey), and Rupert Friend (Homeland, The French Dispatch).
Also starring are Naomi Scott (Aladdin, Charlie’s Angels), Josette Simon (The Witches), Geoffrey Streatfeild (The Other Boleyn Girl), and Joshua McGuire (Lovesick).
The cast is rounded out by Liz White (Ali Conlon), Nancy Farino (Holly), Hannah Dodd (young Sophie), Ben Radcliffe (young James), Jake Simmance (Young Tom), Annie Haworth (young Alison), Amelie Bea-Smith (Emily Whitehouse), Sebastian Selwood (Finn Whitehouse).
David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, Goliath) and Melissa James Gibson (House of Cards, The Americans) are the creators, writers, and executive producers. S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones, The Defenders) directed all episodes and also executive produced.
The executive producers are rounded out by Liza Chasin (The Loudest Voice, Baby Driver) of 3Dot Productions, Bruna Papandrea (Gone Girl, Big Little Lies), and Allie Goss of Made Up Stories.
The co-executive producers are Sarah Vaughan and Margaret Chernin.
“Sex. Power. Privilege. Based on Sarah’s addictive book, the show tackles entitlement, truth, and the boundaries of consent,” said David E. Kelley and Melissa James Gibson.
“It’s been a joy to partner with Netflix on this and see S.J. bring it to such a rich and nuanced life.”
Sienna Miller added: “I was a huge fan of the book and of my character Sophie. She is multi-faceted and facing the consequences of the decisions she has made in her life of privilege that are catching up with her.
“I loved the arc and journey she embarks on and was thrilled to be part of such a talented cast and crew.”
