Today, Amazon Freevee (formerly IMDb TV) announced it will pick up American Rust Season 2, starring Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney. The second season of the crime drama set in a Pennsylvania Rust Belt town will stream exclusively on Freevee.
American Rust Season 2 is produced by Boat Rocker and executive produced by Daniels, Dan Futterman, and Adam Rapp. The first season debuted on Showtime.
Based on Philipp Meyer’s critically acclaimed novel of the same name (See on Amazon), the first season of American Rust explored the tattered American Dream in a Rust Belt town in southwest Pennsylvania through the eyes of police chief Del Harris (Daniels).
Harris becomes compromised when the son of the woman he loves (Tierney) is accused of murder, and he is forced to decide what he’s willing to do to protect him. Production on the second season is scheduled to begin later this year, with Daniels and Tierney returning.

In addition to Daniels, Futterman, and Rapp, American Rust is also executive produced by Paul Martino, Michael De Luca, and Katie O’Connell Marsh for Boat Rocker and Elisa Ellis. The series is produced and distributed globally by Boat Rocker.
Amazon Freevee uniquely offers premium Originals on a free streaming service, including the newly-released dramas Troppo and Bosch: Legacy, the second season of buddy-cop drama Pretty Hard Cases, and the stranger-than-fiction true-crime docuseries Bug Out.
