The Aftermath Trailer Featuring Kiera Knightley

Based on Rhidian Brook’s best-selling novel of the same name

Fox Searchlight Pictures has released the trailer and poster for The Aftermath, the big screen adaptation of Rhidian Brook’s international best-selling novel of the same name. The film opens in theaters on April 26, 2019.

The Aftermath is set in postwar Germany in 1946. Rachael Morgan (Keira Knightley) arrives in the ruins of Hamburg in the bitter winter, to be reunited with her husband Lewis (Jason Clarke), a British colonel charged with rebuilding the shattered city. But as they set off for their new home, Rachael is stunned to discover that Lewis has made an unexpected decision: They will be sharing the grand house with its previous owners, a German widower (Alexander Skarsgård) and his troubled daughter. In this charged atmosphere, enmity and grief give way to passion and betrayal.

The film was directed by James Kent (Testament of Youth, The Thirteenth Tale) from a script written by Joe Shrapnel & Anna Waterhouse (Race), and Rhidian Brook. Additional cast members includes Flora Thiemann, Fionn O’Shea, Kate Phillips, and Martin Compston. Jack Arbuthnott and Malte Grunert produced and Ridley Scott and Carlo Dusi executive produced.

Developed by BBC Films, The Aftermath is executive produced on their behalf by Joe Oppenheimer and Beth Pattinson.
