Uncharted Filming Begins for a 2021 Release

-

Tom Holland has revealed that today marks the first day of Uncharted filming. The anticipated video game adaptation is scheduled to open in theaters on July 16, 2021. You can check out his Instagram post below!

Uncharted filming was scheduled to begin in March of 2020. At that time, shooting was said to be taking place in areas around Berlin and at Babelsberg Studio. Principal photography was then going to move to Spain.

Tom Holland will play Nathan “Nate” Drake in Uncharted and Mark Wahlberg is set to play Victor “Sully” Sullivan. Sully is an American treasure hunter as well as an old friend and mentor at one point of Drake.

The cast of the Sony Pictures release also includes Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle (The 100) as Elena Fisher, and Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe Frazer.

The Uncharted movie will be directed by Ruben Fleischer (Venom). Fleischer’s credits include the Zombieland movies, 30 Minutes or Less and Gangster Squad.

Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man and Men in Black: International) and Rafe Judkins wrote the script.

The project will become the first feature production of Sony PlayStation Productions. Headed by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, PlayStation Productions has come on to produce alongside Chuck Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad.

Qizilbash and Swan will serve as executive producers.

Based on the Naughty Dog video games for PlayStation consoles, the film is said to take its basis from the sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception in which the young Nathan “Nate” Drake (Holland) encounters his partner Victor Sullivan for the first time.
