Wonder Woman 1984 Release Date Moved Back to October 2020

In addition to moving Christopher Nolan’s Tenet back two weeks, Warner Bros. is pushing back the Wonder Woman 1984 release date from August 14 to October 2, 2020. The studio announced the move with social posts that feature Wonder Woman 1984 on various theater marques, which you can view below.

The film was originally scheduled to open in theaters in late 2019 before it moved to June 2020. It was then delayed to August 14 after theaters closed, but fans will have to wait even longer now. Gal Gadot said, “Wow, it’s finally happening, & I couldn’t be more excited! To all the fans that stuck w/ us through this time, thank u so much! We couldn’t have done this w/o you. I’m so excited for you to get to see this #WW84, it will be worth the wait.”

Wonder Woman 1984 fast forwards to the 1980s and will have Wonder Woman facing all-new foes. She is now working at the Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C., and lives quietly, still mourning the loves she’s left behind.

Director Patty JenkinsWonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot in the title role, alongside Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Super-Villain The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta.

Jenkins directs from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham, from a story by Jenkins and Johns. The film is based on characters from DC. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston.

Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot and Stephen Jones are producing the film. Rebecca Steel Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Marianne Jenkins, Geoff Johns, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Wesley Coller are the executive producers.

Joining Jenkins behind the scenes are several members of her Wonder Woman team, including director of photography Matthew Jensen, Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (Amélie), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (Topsy-Turvy). Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson (United 93) is cutting the film.

Production took place in Washington, D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain and the Canary Islands.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents an Atlas Entertainment/Stone Quarry Production, a Patty Jenkins Film, Wonder Woman 1984. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The first film was released in theaters on June 2, 2017 and grossed $821.8 million worldwide, with $412.6 million coming from North American theaters and $409.3 million from overseas markets. You can buy Wonder Woman in various formats at Amazon.
