Valley Girl Musical Remake Coming to Digital on May 8

-

Orion Classics has released the trailer, poster and first look images for Valley Girl, a musical adaptation of the classic 1983 hit film that changed American teenage life forever. The new movie will be available on Digital May 8th.

In the film, Julie (Jessica Rothe) is the ultimate ’80s Valley Girl. That is, until she falls hard for Randy (Josh Whitehouse), a Sunset Strip punk rocker, who challenges everything Julie stand for. Despite push-back from friends and family, Julie must break out of the safety of her world to follow her heart and discover what it really means to be a Valley Girl.

Directed by Emmy Award winner Rachel Lee Goldenberg (A Deadly Adoption, Between Two Ferns), Valley Girl also stars Chloe Bennet, Mae Whitman, Ashleigh Murray, Jessie Ennis, Rob Huebel, Judy Greer, Alicia Silverstone and Camila Morrone.

The movie is set to a rock ‘n roll ’80s soundtrack produced by legendary Harvey Mason, Jr. with dance numbers by choreographer Mandy Moore. The screenplay was written by Amy Talkington from a story by Andrew Lane and Wayne Crawford. The producers are Matt Smith and Steven J. Wolfe.

In related news, the MGM has released its 1983 hit teen comedy Valley Girl across all digital platforms for the first time ever (buy or rent at Amazon).

Directed by Martha Coolidge and starring Nicolas Cage, Deborah Foreman, Michelle Meyrink, Elizabeth Daily, Cameron Dye and Michael Bowen, the film was originally released in theaters on April 29, 1983.

Valley Girl is a sweetly romantic slice of 1980s nostalgia you don’t want to miss. When Julie (Deborah Foreman) dumps her preppy boyfriend, the last thing she expects is to find love with the rockin’ Randy (Nicolas Cage).

The future’s open wide for Julie … but when her disapproving friends find Randy to be grody to the max, she is caught up in a culture clash between her Valley lifestyle and her Hollywood punk.
