Tom Hardy is Capone in the Trailer for the Josh Trank Film

-

Director Josh Trank (Fantastic FourChronicle) has revealed the trailer for Capone, (previously titled “Fonzo”), the upcoming film starring Tom Hardy as Al Capone. Vertical Entertainment and Redbox Entertainment have teamed up to released Capone as a VOD release on May 12th with an on-demand, 48-hour rental.

Vertical and Redbox are still hoping for a theatrical release later in the summer as things return to normal. The film was rated R for strong/bloody violence, pervasive language and some sexuality.

The film is described as follows: “Once a ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Alfonse Capone (Hardy) was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Alfonse’s mind and his past becomes present. Harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.

As he spends his final year surrounded by family with the FBI lying in wait, this ailing patriarch struggles to place the memory of the location of millions of dollars he hid away on his property.”

In addition to Tom Hardy as Al Capone, the film stars Linda Cardellini, Matt Dillon, Kyle MacLachlan, Katherine Narducci, Jack Lowden, Noel Fisher, and Tilda Del Toro.

Trank wrote the script for the crime drama, which is produced by Russell Ackerman, Lawrence Bender, Aaron L. Gilbert, and John Schoenfelder.

In related news, Tom Hardy is returning as CBeebies Bedtime Stories reader with a selection of brand-new stories to settle the nation’s children down before they make their weary way to bed.

The actor first appeared on CBeebies back in 2016 and since then his Bedtime Stories have been requested an incredible one million times on BBC iPlayer.

Tom wanted to play a part in keeping the children of the UK entertained at this challenging time and will read a new story each day starting on Monday, April 27 to Friday, May 1, with the date of his sixth, and final, story yet to be confirmed.

Tom, who was accompanied by his adorable French bulldog, Blue, for some of the stories will read his first, Hug Me, by Simona Ciraolo on Monday, April 27 at 6.50pm on CBeebies. It is about Felipe the young cactus who really needs a hug but his family just isn’t the touchy-feely kind so he sets off to find a friend of his own – and a hug.

On Tuesday, April 28, Hardy will read Under the Same Sky by Robert Vescio and Nicky Johnston. It is about two children on opposite sides of the world who crave friendship. Is it possible to be friends across the miles? There’s a Tiger in the Garden by Lizzy Stewart follows on Wednesday, April 29 and is about the power of imagination being able to take you anywhere, even for Nora who doesn’t believe her Grandma when she says she’s seen a tiger in the garden.

He’ll also read Don’t Worry, Little Crab by Chris Haughton. The book is about mustering the courage to try something new and how saying “Don’t worry, I’m here” can help tentative little crabs discover the brilliant worlds that await when they take the plunge.

Concluding ‘Tom Week’ on Friday, May 1, is The Problem with Problems by Rachel Rooney and Zehra Hicks. Tom tells the bold, humorous and insightful story about how to deal with problems.

Cheryl Taylor, Head of Content, BBC Children’s, says: “It goes without saying how thrilled we are to have Tom reading more stories for us. It’s during challenging times like this that the BBC serves its purpose to entertain the whole of the UK and these new stories are guaranteed to do just that with their themes of long distance friendship, sharing problems and true courage in overcoming seemingly impossible challenges.”
