In the Heights, Malignant, Scoob! & Wonder Woman 1984 Release Dates Moved

-

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced the studio is moving the In the Heights, Malignant, Scoob! and Wonder Woman 1984 release dates, while Christopher Nolan’s Tenet will keep its July 17 release date for now.

“When we greenlit WW 1984 it was with every intention to be viewed on the big screen and are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the film to theatres on August 14th. We hope the world will be in a safer and healthier place by then,” said Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group Chairman Toby Emmerich today. You can also check out director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot’s tweets below.

Previously scheduled for that August 14th release date was James Wan’s new horror movie, Malignant, but Warner Bros. will now release the film on a later, unknown date. The animated feature Scoob! was scheduled for May 15, but that movie will now seek a later date, while Jon M. Chu’s Broadway musical adaptation In the Heights, previously scheduled for June 26, is now also looking for a new date.

Once movie theaters reopen, Warner Bros. Pictures is hoping to kick off its slate with Nolan’s Tenet on July 17. Tenet is an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage.

Christopher Nolan is directing from his own original screenplay, utilizing a mixture of IMAX and 70mm film to bring the story to the screen.

The Tenet cast is led by John David Washington (BlacKkKlansman) and also includes Robert Pattinson (Twilight films, upcoming The Batman), Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, with Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.

Tenet will then be followed by the Wonder Woman sequel, which fast forwards to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing all-new foes. She is now working at the Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C., and lives quietly, still mourning the loves she’s left behind.

Director Patty JenkinsWonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot in the title role, alongside Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Super-Villain The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. Jenkins directs from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham, from a story by Jenkins and Johns.

Scoob! features the never-before-told stories of Scooby-Doo’s origins and the greatest mystery in the career of Mystery Inc. Scoob! reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc.

Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global “dogpocalypse,” the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.

Starring in Scoob! are Kiersey Clemons (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, TV’s Angie Tribeca) as Dee Dee; Zac Efron (The Greatest Showman, the Neighbors franchise) as Fred; Will Forte (Booksmart, TV’s The Last Man on Earth) as Scooby-Doo’s best friend, Shaggy; Jason Isaacs (the Harry Potter films, TV’s The OA) as the infamous Dick Dastardly; Ken Jeong (Crazy Rich Asians, The Hangover trilogy) as Dynomutt; Tracy Morgan (What Men Want, TV’s 30 Rock) as Captain Caveman; Gina Rodriguez (Deepwater Horizon, TV’s Jane the Virgin) as Velma; Amanda Seyfried (the Mamma Mia! films, Ted 2) as Daphne; two-time Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter, The Departed) as Blue Falcon; and Frank Welker (the Transformers franchise) as Scooby-Doo.

Scoob! is directed by Tony Cervone, Annie Award nominee for the feature Space Jam and two-time Emmy nominee for his work on Duck Dodgers.

In the Heights fuses Lin-Manuel Miranda’s kinetic music and lyrics with director Jon M. Chu’s lively and authentic eye for storytelling to capture a world very much of its place, but universal in its experience.

In the Heights stars Anthony Ramos (A Star Is Born, Broadway’s Hamilton), Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton, BlacKkKlansman), singer/songwriter Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera (TV’s Vida), Olga Merediz (Broadway’s In the Heights), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Broadway’s Rent), Gregory Diaz IV (Broadway’s Matilda the Musical), Stephanie Beatriz (TV’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Dascha Polanco (TV’s Orange Is the New Black) and Jimmy Smits (the Star Wars films).

Directed by James Wan, Malignant stars Annabelle Wallis (The Loudest Voice, The Mummy, Annabelle), Maddie Hasson (YouTube Originals’ Impulse, Novitiate, I Saw the Light), George Young (A Bread Factory Parts 1 & 2, Containment, HBO Asia’s horror mini-series Grace), Michole Briana White (Lila and Eve, She Hate Me, Encino Man), Jake Abel (Another Life, Dirty John, Love & Mercy), Jacqueline McKenzie (Netflix series Pine Gap, Halifax: Retribution, Romper Stomper: Next Gen), and Ingrid Bisu (The Nun, Toni Erdmann).

Malignant is a presentation of Wan’s banner, Atomic Monster, Starlight Media and New Line Cinema, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, and in China by Starlight Media.
