Sony Interactive Entertainment today confirmed that the Horizon Zero Dawn PC release date has been set for Summer 2020. The game has been a PlayStation 4 exclusive.
Hermen Hulst, formerly the managing director of Horizon Zero Dawn developer Guerrilla Games and now the Head of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios, confirmed the release in a new interview.
“Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer,” said Hulst. “There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.”
Asked whether there is anything he would like to say about the future for PlayStation fans, Hulst added: “I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on.”
But it doesn’t mean that every game now will come to PC as well. “In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.”
Horizon Zero Dawn (buy at Amazon) was released on February 28, 2017 to widespread critical acclaim, winning numerous industry awards. The game has sold over 10 million copies, making it one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games.
Horizon Zero Dawn is an exhilarating action role playing game where you play as Aloy, a young hunter on a quest to discover her destiny among the remnants of the ancient past. The game is set in a lush, post-post-apocalyptic world where machines roam the land and mankind is no longer the dominant species.
In the world, nature has reclaimed the ruins of a forgotten civilization and pockets of humanity live on in primitive hunter-gatherer tribes. Their dominion over the new wilderness has been usurped by the Machines – fearsome mechanical creatures of unknown origin.
An expansion, The Frozen Wilds, was released in November 2017. The Frozen Wilds takes you beyond the northern mountains, where the borderlands of the Banuk tribe challenge all who dare enter to survive the extremes. But now this frozen wilderness harbors a new threat, and for Aloy, a new mystery – one she’s determined to solve.
