Demon Bear Teased by The New Mutants Director

-

The New Mutants director Josh Boone has announced that the film is officially done, and with it he teased Demon Bear in a new photo! It’s actually the second Demon Bear tease this week, as the new TV spot (watch below) also included a very brief glimpse.

In the comics, Demon Bear haunted the dreams of Danielle Moonstar. The character draws power from negative human emotion and is capable of teleportation, immense strength, transformation, and corruption of human souls.

In his post, Boone says: “New Mutants is officially done! We just locked the sound mix! Here with me – from left to right- The great Don Sylvester, sound editor of both The Fault in Our Stars and New Mutants. Psst! He also just won an Oscar for Ford Vs. Ferrari.

“Next up is editor extraordinaire Andrew Buckland, who I finished the film with me while my editors worked on The Stand. Psst! He just won an Oscar too! I’m the idiot in the middle with the hat. Next up is sound engineer David Giammarco – thrice nominated. Last, but not least is Emmy Award winning music editor Chris McGeary. It was a long road but this roaring beast is done and we can’t wait for you to see it!”

20th Century Studios’ The New Mutants opens in theaters on April 3 and has been rated PG-13 for violent content, some disturbing/bloody images, some strong language, thematic elements and suggestive material.

The New Mutants is an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.

The film’s cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin/Magik, a Russian mutant with sorcery powers and the sister of Colossus; Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane, a Scottish mutant with the power to turn into a wolf; and Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie/Cannonball, an American mutant who can propel himself into the air.

Also starring are Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa/Sunspot, a Brazilian mutant with the ability to manipulate solar energy; and Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar/Mirage, a Native American mutant who has the power to create illusions from the fears and desires of a person’s mind.

Alice Braga also stars as Cecilia Reyes, a mentor to the group and a medical doctor who has the ability to generate a protective bio-field around herself.

Directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), The New Mutants was written by Boone and Knate Lee.

The producers are Simon Kinberg, Karen Rosenfelt, and Lauren Shuler Donner. The executive producers are Stan Lee and Michele Imperato Stabile. The movie is an adaptation of the comic book series created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod.
