No Time to Die Release Postponed Due to the Coronavirus

-

MGM, Universal Pictures and James Bond producers, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, today announced that the No Time to Die release has been postponed until November 2020. The move was made “after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace.”

The companies and producers are hoping that the Coronavirus outbreak will have ended by then. Right now, over 94,000 people have been infected worldwide, with over 80,000 of those cases being in China.

The 25th James Bond film will now be released in the U.K. on November 12, 2020 with worldwide release dates to follow, including the U.S. launch on November 25, 2020. The No Time to Die release was previously set for U.K. theaters on April 2nd and in the U.S. on April 10th.

Daniel Craig is still scheduled to host Saturday Night Live this Saturday, March 7, with musical guest The Weeknd. SNL has released the funny first promo with Craig which you can watch below.

Last week, the film’s runtime was reported by several theater chains to be 2 hours and 43 minutes (or 163 minutes), making it the longest James Bond movie ever. The previous film, SPECTRE, had been the longest at 2 hours and 28 minutes.

No Time to Die has been rated PG-13 for sequences of violence and action, some disturbing images, brief strong language and some suggestive material.

In No Time to Die, Bond (Daniel Craig) has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.

The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

No Time to Die stars Daniel CraigRami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, with Jeffrey Wright, and Ralph Fiennes as “M.” The film also stars Ana de Armas, Rory Kinnear, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, and Billy Magnussen.

The movie, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM), and Universal Pictures International, is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation, True Detective). Daniel Craig is returning for his fifth and final film as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007.

The film was written by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade (SPECTRESkyfall), Cary Joji Fukunaga, Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve, Fleabag).

Billie Eilish sings the No Time to Die theme song. The 18-year-old artist wrote the song with her brother, Finneas. Billie is the youngest artist in history to write and record a James Bond theme song. Hans Zimmer will compose the score for the James Bond movie.

Filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga captured select sequences of No Time to Die using IMAX’s extremely high-resolution 15/70mm film cameras to deliver IMAX audiences greater scope and breathtaking image quality.

In addition to being shot with IMAX film cameras and the exclusive expanded aspect ratio, the No Time to Die IMAX release will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology.
