A Winter’s Tale From Shaun the Sheep Coming to BBC One in 2021

-

The BBC is continuing its long-standing relationship with Aardman as the world’s favorite sheep stars in his very own winter’s tale for a special for Christmas 2021 on BBC One. In the half-hour special, A Winter’s Tale From Shaun the Sheep, Shaun’s seasonal excitement turns to dismay when a farmhouse raid to get bigger stockings for the Flock inadvertently leads to Timmy going missing.

Can Shaun get Timmy back before he becomes someone else’s present? Prepare for a ‘Santastic’ adventure as everyone learns the true value of Christmas!

To accompany the A Winter’s Tale announcement, Aardman have released a festive image picture featuring Shaun, Timmy and his teddy making snow angels.

Sue Deeks, Head of BBC Programme Acquisition, says: “Aardman lovingly produce stories with warmth, personality and humour, so we are truly delighted that, following the huge success of The Farmer’s Llamas, the next project in our continuing relationship is another wonderful Shaun the Sheep special.”

Sean Clarke, Managing Director of Aardman, added: “Aardman films have come to be synonymous with the festive period, which is a real honour. We’re delighted to be continuing this tradition with a Shaun the Sheep seasonal special that will premiere on the BBC for Christmas 2021.”

The half-hour special will start shooting in late 2020.

The story of A Winter’s Tale From Shaun the Sheep comes from Giles Pilbrow and Mark Burton with the script also written by Giles Pilbrow. It is directed by Steve Cox produced by Richard Beek and the Executive Producers are Mark Burton, Sarah Cox and Carla Shelley.

This is in addition to A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, which international audiences have already gotten to see. The film will be arriving in the U.S., Canada and Latin America via Netflix in early 2020.

In that film, when an alien named Lu-La crash-lands near Mossy Bottom Farm, her magical powers, irrepressible mischief and galactic sized burps soon have Shaun the Sheep and his flock enchanted.

But when Shaun takes his new extraterrestrial friend on the road to find her lost spaceship, little does he know that a sinister alien-hunting agency is on their trail. Now Shaun and the flock must avert Farmageddon before it’s too late.

The movie was directed by Richard Phelan and Will Becher, written by Jon Brown and Mark Burton, produced by Paul Kewley, and executive produced by Mark Burton and Richard Starzak, Peter Lord, Nick Park, Carla Shelley and David Sproxton.

The film continues the production partnership with Aardman and STUDIOCANAL following the success of Shaun the Sheep Movie, directed by Mark Burton and Richard Starzak, which grossed $106 million worldwide, and Nick Park’s prehistoric comedy adventure, Early Man.

A number of Aardman’s beloved titles, such as Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, Flushed Away, and Shaun the Sheep Movie are currently available for members to enjoy on Netflix in most countries.
