Actress Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians, Humans) has revealed that The Eternals filming has wrapped for a November 6, 2020 release. On her social channels, Chan said: “Wrapped. Thank you to my castmates and our talented, hardworking crew that got us over the finish line.”
The Eternals filming began in July of 2019 at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, England. The shoot has also included locations such as Oxford, England, Hampstead Heath in London, the Canary Islands, and Fuerteventura.
Marvel Studios’ The Eternals stars Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as Druig, and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman.
Created by Jack Kirby, the Eternals first appeared in The Eternals #1 (July 1976). The Eternals were created by the Celestials, who did experiments on human beings millions of years ago. They also created the Deviants, who, as the name suggests, are the villains of the story. The Eternals and the Deviants have battled each other throughout history. The Eternals can breed with humans and are like them in appearance.
The film is directed by Chloé Zhao (The Rider, Songs My Brothers Taught Me) and produced by Kevin Feige. The script was written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.
This isn’t Gemma Chan’s first Marvel Studios movie, as she previously played Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel.
