James Cameron and Jon Landau attended the unveiling of the Mercedes-Benz VISION AVTR, which is inspired by Avatar, at CES in Las Vegas on Monday and brought along the first Avatar sequels concept art! You can view the Avatar sequels concept art in the gallery below and we’ve included the full video of the Mercedes-Benz Keynote as well.
VISION AVTR stands not only for Mercedes-Benz’s close collaboration in developing the showcar together with the Avatar team but also for Advanced Vehicle Transformation. The concept vehicle connects human, machine and nature in an unprecedented way.
The vehicle’s inside-out design structure combines inside and outside into an emotional whole and was inspired by several creatures from Avatar. Instead of a conventional steering wheel, the multifunctional control element in the center console allows human and machine to merge. By simply lifting the hand, a menu selection is projected onto the palm of the hand through which the passenger can intuitively choose between different functionalities. For example, real-time 3D graphics can be used to explore the fictional world of Pandora from different perspectives.
The VISION AVTR also has an organic battery, 33 “bionic flaps” on the back that communicate with the driver, and the car can move sideways by approximately 30 degrees. You can read much more about the VISION AVTR and see lots of photos by clicking here.
The second film, Avatar: The Way of Water, is scheduled to be released by Disney’s 20th Century Fox on December 17, 2021. Avatar: The Seed Bearer will follow on December 22, 2023. Then Avatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest for Eywa are coming to theaters on December 19, 2025 and December 17, 2027.

Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Oona Chaplin, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, and Jemaine Clement are also on board. The young members of the Sully family are played by Jamie Flatters, Britain Dalton, and Trinity Bliss, while the Metkayina Clan members are played by Bailey Bass, Filip Geljo, and Duane Evans Jr. Jack Champion is playing Javier “Spider” Socorro, a human teenager, born at Hell’s Gate but who prefers his time in the Pandoran rainforest more than the asphalt of Hell’s Gate.
The Avatar sequels will be produced by James Cameron and Jon Landau through their Lightstorm Entertainment. The James Cameron-directed sequels are written by Cameron along with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, Josh Friedman, and Shane Salerno.
