Amazon Celebrates Giving Tuesday with Alexa and the Dolittle Stars

To celebrate Giving Tuesday, Amazon announced it is once again offering customers the chance to use their voice to donate a toy to a child in need this holiday season via Alexa and Toys for Tots. Customers can simply say, “Alexa, donate to Toys for Tots,” and Alexa will present a reasonably-priced item appropriate for kids across a broad range of ages from the Toys for Tots Charity List. After the customer confirms their order, Amazon ships it directly to Toys for Tots. Customers will be able to donate throughout the holiday season until December 31, 2019, and Amazon will match donations toy for toy. For more information, please visit

This season, Toys for Tots curated a Charity List featuring items such as Scientific Explorer My First Mind Blowing Science Kit, 5 Second Rule Junior, Spot It! and more. Once a customer confirms their donation, Alexa can provide tracking and delivery updates to let them know that their donation arrived.

“Last year, thousands of children received a toy thanks to the generosity of our customers,” said Chuck Moore, VP of Alexa. “With Alexa, customers can donate to a child in need in less than 60 seconds. They don’t have to stop what they are doing to shop or donate, leaving more time for family and friends during the busy holiday season.”

In 2018, Amazon customers donated thousands of toys to children in need via Alexa. This year, customers who use Alexa to donate to Toys for Tots will be in good company as Robert Downey Jr., star of Universal Pictures’ new adventure film Dolittle (in theaters January 17, 2020), will help Amazon kick off the season of giving with a new Dolittle TV spot you can watch below. Additionally, customers donating with Alexa will receive a special thank-you message from Downey Jr.’s Dolittle co-star Craig Robinson, after their donation is confirmed.

“We are delighted to once again join with Amazon to create an easy way for people to give back and send holiday cheer to children in difficult circumstances,” said Pete Osman, President and CEO of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. “Your donations send a message of support to these families. We are extremely grateful to Amazon for leveraging the Alexa technology to make it easier for anyone to contribute to our cause and make an impact in children’s lives this holiday season.”
