Peyton Reed Returning to Direct Ant-Man 3


Although Ant-Man 3 was not part of the Phase 4 slate or the additional announcements, the third installment is very much moving forward. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peyton Reed has signed on to direct Ant-Man 3. He directed both 2015’s Ant-Man (buy here) and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp (buy here).

Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas are expected to be back in the sequel, which reportedly would start shooting at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021 for a release in 2022. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder will shoot before Ant-Man 3.

The first Ant-Man movie hit theaters in July of 2015 and earned $180 million domestically and $339.1 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $519.3 million. The second movie opened in July of 2018 and grossed $216.6 million in North America and $406 million overseas, for global total of $622.7 million.

Ant-Man and The Wasp also starred Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John-Kamen, Abby Ryder-Fortson, Randall Park, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Laurence Fishburne.

Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard produced the film, which was executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Charles Newirth and Stan Lee. Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers, Paul Rudd & Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari wrote the screenplay.
